CrossFit-style event scoring

CrossFit Competition Scoring App for Functional Fitness Events

ScoreBX helps organisers run CrossFit-style and functional fitness competitions from athlete import through final standings. Configure each workout accurately, collect scores from the floor, and publish a live leaderboard without forcing your event into a generic tournament format.

What organisers need from CrossFit-style scoring software

A functional fitness competition can change scoring format several times in one day. One event may be for time, the next an AMRAP, the next a maximum lift, and the final a multi-part workout with a tiebreak. Useful software has to understand those differences while staying quick enough for the scoring desk to operate between heats.

The best fit is not simply the product with the longest feature list. Organisers usually need clear event setup, predictable ranking rules, fast corrections, a simple workflow for judges, and results athletes can follow. ScoreBX brings those jobs together so the athlete list, score entry, standings and public display all use the same competition data.

  • Workout-specific score entry
  • Consistent division rankings
  • Clear tiebreak and tie handling
  • Fast event-day score review
  • Public results and venue display
  • A complete audit history for corrections

Score every common workout format accurately

ScoreBX events are made from score components. Choose time when the fastest finish wins; reps, weight, calories, points or distance when the highest value wins; or rounds plus reps for an AMRAP result. Multi-component scoring lets one workout record more than one meaningful result, such as a capped time alongside completed reps or separate values for different stations.

That structure matters because organisers should not have to convert results into invented numbers just to make a leaderboard work. DNF, DNS and event disqualification are recorded as outcomes. Penalties adjust the effective result while preserving the raw entered score, and score history records revisions so the scoring team can review what changed after an appeal.

  • Time and time-capped workouts
  • Reps and rounds plus reps
  • Weight and points
  • Calories and distance
  • Multiple components in one event
  • DNF, DNS and disqualification outcomes

Multiple tiebreakers, true ties and weighted finals

A single tiebreak is not always enough. ScoreBX lets organisers order multiple score components so the ranking checks the primary result first, then each tiebreak in sequence. If every configured value is equal, the athletes remain in a true tie rather than being separated by an arbitrary hidden rule.

Overall standings can use position scoring, fixed-gap descending points, variable-gap points or a custom points table. Event multipliers let a final count double or triple without creating duplicate events or changing the recorded workout result. The same rules drive organiser rankings, public results and the venue display, reducing the chance of conflicting tables on event day.

Move athletes from registration to the competition floor

Import athletes from a CSV exported by your registration platform instead of retyping every entry. Map columns, review problems such as duplicate bib numbers or missing names, and decide which rows to correct or skip before saving. Athletes can then be organised into divisions so Rx, Scaled, Masters, Teens or your own categories each receive separate standings.

Heats and lanes are optional. Turn them on when your floor runs athletes in waves and you need a clear assignment for each lane. Leave them off for a small event or a format that does not need a running order; scoring and rankings work either way. Optional tools keep the setup proportionate to the competition you are actually running.

Let judges and scorekeepers enter results from their phones

Judges and scorekeepers can sign in through a mobile browser and enter scores using fields that match the event configuration. They do not need to install an app, and they do not need to remember how a separate spreadsheet expects times or multi-part scores to be formatted. Entries are validated when saved and become available to the scoring team for review.

The organiser still controls publication. Keep an event Hidden while scores are checked, switch it to Live when results are ready to follow, and mark it Final after appeals close. ScoreBX requires an internet connection to save scores; it does not claim to be offline-first. Typed but unsaved values are retained so a judge can retry after a brief connection problem.

Share live standings in the venue and beyond

Every competition can have a public live leaderboard that athletes, coaches and spectators open in a normal browser. They can switch divisions, check overall standings and inspect individual event results without downloading anything. A separate TV and venue display presents the same standings in a format designed for a larger screen.

Apply your event logo, colours and sponsor logos so public results feel connected to the competition. Because the public leaderboard and venue display use the same confirmed scores, the audience is not looking at a separate hand-maintained version. Organisers can share the results link from their event website, athlete messages and social pages.

How to compare scoring apps for your event

Before choosing software, build one representative workout from your rulebook. Test a normal result, a capped result, a tie, a penalty and a correction. Then check whether the overall table applies your points model and final weighting exactly as expected. This practical test is more useful than comparing broad claims because it reveals whether the system fits your scoring rules and your team's event-day workflow.

Also test the surrounding jobs: import a small athlete list, enter a score on a phone, review the history, publish an event and open the public leaderboard on another device. ScoreBX is designed so you can do this before paying, using your own event structure rather than a generic demo competition.

Build and test free, then pay per competition

Set up divisions, events, scoring rules and up to 20 athletes for free. You can test score entry and rankings before committing. When you need a larger athlete capacity or want to use event-day features such as public live results and the TV display, buy one Event Pass for that competition. There is no monthly or annual subscription.

If registrations grow after purchase, upgrade the competition and pay only the difference to the next capacity tier. This keeps the buying decision tied to the event you are running rather than requiring an ongoing software commitment.
